What is a third party cheque?
A third party cheque is a cheque that someone unconnected to you has sent you e.g. for wages, regarding insurance or from a solicitor. The list is not just limited to these examples as Ramsdens will cash almost all third party cheques.

What identification do I need?
You will need:

    • For cheques under £500

      • One form of identification with your name and address on (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, driving licence)
      • One form of identification with your signature on (e.g. bank card, driving licence, bank statement, passport, tenancy agreement)

     

    • For cheques £500 and over
      • Two forms of identification with your signature on (e.g. bank card, driving licence, statement, passport, tenancy agreement)
      • Two forms of identification with your signature on (e.g. bank card, driving licence, bank statement, passport, tenancy agreement)

      • Any correspondence that accompanied the cheque e.g. the letter that came with the cheque or a payslip.

Can I cash a personal cheque?

Can I cash a cheque that is to my partner and I?
Yes, but both parties have to be present with the relevant identification.

How much does it cost?
This depends on the cheque amount and who the drawer is.  Ramsdens checks its competitor’s rates regularly so that it can confidently say that it offers the lowest rates around.

When do I receive the cash?
In almost all cases you will receive all of your cash immediately.  You can either take the cash or choose to allocate funds to your prepay MasterCard account which can be used to purchase items online. (please ask if you do not have one).

Can I put my funds straight on to a Prepay MasterCard?
Yes, simply ask a member of staff and they will set a prepay card up for you if you do not already have one.
